Minorca is one of the Balearic Islands situated just off the east coast of mainland Spain, in the Mediterranean Sea. It has an area of around 694 km² and a coastline of 216 km². It has the maximum distance of 47km between the furthest points - Ciutadella and Mahon.

The two major cities on the Island are Mahon on the east coast and Ciutadella on the west coast. There are several smaller towns located around the island, such as Es Castell, Sant Lluis, Alaior, Es Mercadal, Es Migjorn and Ferreries.

The island of Minorca is divided into two symmetric but very different parts. The northern part is a place for an uneven and rugged coastline with poor vegetation and plenty of small islands with dark or reddish sand, whilst the southern part which is made up of the calcareous rock has plain, wavy cliffs with coves of white sand surrounded by pines.

Monte Toro is the highest point and it is 358 m/1174 ft above sea level. The coast of Sant Lluis is situated in the eastern part of the island and it is the first location in Spain where the sun rises.

Minorca has a typical Mediterranean climate characterized by warm temperatures. The average annual temperature ranges between 16°C and 17°C. The average summer temperature is around 23°C to 26°C (73.4 - 78.8°C) and the winter average is around 11°C to 13°C. The island experiences the cool north winds, known as the 'tramuntana'. Rainfall rates are high in autumn and low in summer. The average rainfall of the island varies from one spot to another. The southeast region records 450mm of rainfall, while the interior and the northeastern end experiences 650mm of rainfall.

Azerbaijan , officially the Republic of Azerbaijan is an important and the largest country in the Caucasus region of Eurasia. Whilst the capital, Baku, has rapidly transformed itself into a highly developed modern city, the surrounding villages still remain untouched and archaic.

Azerbaijan is divided partially between Eastern Europe and Western Asia. On its eastern side lies the Caspian Sea, whilst the Russian Federation borders it on the north.

Other countries which share boundaries with Azerbaijan are Georgia in the west and north-west, Armenia in the south-west and Iran in the south. The Azerbaijani exclave of Nakhchivan is bordered by Armenia to its north and east, while Iran lies to its south and south-west, and Turkey to its west.

During the Nagorno-Karabakh War in 1994, seven districts of Azerbaijan in the southwest were overpowered by Armenia. Many islands in the Caspian Sea are also a part of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijan is formed of 65 regions and 69 cities of which Baku is the capital. While Azerbaijani is the official language, due to Russia's rule for so many years, Russian and Turkish languages are also widely spoken. In some regions, people also converse in English, German and Arabic.

Infrastructure investment in the city has very significant potential. There are plenty of construction developments and modern architectural plans glamorizing the city's skyline. On the other hand, nature blesses Bratislava and its countryside with a plethora of forests, rivers and lakes. Slovaks enjoy the contrast between nature's beauty and the materialistic offerings made by state-of-the-art malls, theatres, terminals and entertainment facilities.

Bratislava is also known by its German name Pressburg, implying it is a product of many cultures and people. Today’s Slovak population shares a strong genetic bond with the Austrians, Czechs, Germans, Hungarians and Jews. In 1536, Bratislava became the capital of the Hungarian empire. Over the centuries, the city has witnessed the crowning of many Hungarian kings and queens at St. Martin's Cathedral. Numerous historical icons from Hungary, Germany and Slovakia have resided in Bratislava.

Monumento a la Independencia
(Independence Monument / Angel of Independence) ( Wikipedia )

The Monumento a la Independencia, officially called as Columna de la Independencia was built to commemorate the War of Independence centennial celebrations in 1910. The victory pillar is also referred to as the Angel of Independence, due to the glimmering golden angel standing atop the 36-metre column. At night, when the monument is illuminated, it casts a spectacular effect over the neighbouring Paseo de la Reforma Avenue. In 1925, the memorial was transformed into a mausoleum, when the names of war heroes were etched at the base of the monument.

The Palacio Nacional (National Palace) located on Mexico City's main square El Zócal, is the presidential residence for Mexico's ruling community since the Aztec Empire. In fact, much of the construction material of the current building is of what were called Moctezuma II's "New Houses". The colourful murals by Diego Rivera that adorn the main stairwell and the walls of the second floor, are of particular interest. Diego Rivera painted these scenes between 1929 and 1952 to depict the history of Mexico from 1521 to 1930.

Every Independence Day, on September 15th at midnight, the President rings a bell from the central balcony of the National Palace and gives the annual Grito de Dolores by shouting "Viva Mexico!"

The Metropolitan Cathedral is the oldest and largest in the Americas and the seat of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Mexico. Spanish architect Claudio de Arciniega who was appointed to design the cathedral, took inspiration from the various cathedrals in cities such as Valladolid and Málaga.

The cold artic winds of Scandinavian and temperate winds from Siberia and Central Asia contribute the extreme temperature in Azerbaijan. The influence of these winds is somewhat reduced due to the Greater Caucasus mountain ranges, which block the cold winds, leading to a subtropical climate.

Nine out of eleven climate zones are present in Azerbaijan. Temperatures vary within the country depending upon the region’s proximity to sea, regional landscape and effect of artic and temperate winds. As we go towards the Caspian Sea temperatures do not seem so harsh due to the effect of nautical winds. But towards the mountains, warmth begins to lose its importance and temperature drops to an average of 4-5 °C. At its extreme, temperatures can reach a maximum of 46 °C, and in winters can get harsh at -33 °C.

Plant diversity is high in the Nakhchivan region where 60% of the plant species are found.
